Skate Ski Skill Levels

Newbies

This may be the first time you have ever been on skis of any kind.  You are not familiar with the equipment or how to generate forward movement.  

Beginners

Beginners have some experience on skis, but are far from feeling comfortable on skate skis.  You have some sense of balance on skis and have some experience with forward movement, though you have not learned specific Skate technique.

Intermediate 1

The Intermediate 1 skier can  ski 3km-5km and has a good sense of balance on nordic skis. They can utilize two of the three skate techniques.

 V1, V2, V2 Alternate

Intermediate 2

The Intermediate 2 skier can ski 5km or longer and utilize all three skate ski techniques. V1, V2,  V2 Alternate.

Advanced

The Advanced skier feels confident with V1, V2 and V2 Alternate Skate techniques.  This skier is fine tuning technique, working on efficiency as well as speed.

Classic Ski Skill Levels

Intermediate 

The Intermediate skier can ski 5km or longer utilizing both diagonal striding and double pole.

Advanced

The Advanced skier is familiar with diagonal stride, double pole, and kick double pole. This skier is fine tuning technique as well as working on efficiency and speed.
