Newbies
May be the first time ever on skis of any kind. Not sure how to put skis on or generate forward movement.

Some experience on skis but far from comfortable on skate skis. Some sense of balance and forward movement, but no specific skate technique learned.

You have skated before and can move forward with some confidence, but you are still building the balance and timing that skate technique depends on.

Can ski 3–5km with a good sense of balance on nordic skis. Uses two of the three skate techniques (V1, V2, V2 Alternate).

Can ski 5km or longer and uses all three skate techniques (V1, V2, V2 Alternate).
